Mathematician

Georgia Tech’s Award Winning Faculty – Michael Lacey

One mathematician that never stops giving back is Michael T Lacey. An American mathematician born September 26, 1959, Lacey has been working with mathematics for the past few decades. A true passion of his, he decided to study math and see where he can make contributions to society. He got his start while attending the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. He graduated From the University of Illinois in 1987 with his Ph.D. that was well deserved after his constant studies and theoretical analysis. While attending the University, he spent time working under the direction and mentorship of Walter Philip.

Though Michael Lacey now works at the Georgia Institute of technology, he first started his career working at both the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Louisiana State University. During his time at UNC, he was able to provide proof of the Central Limit Theorem along with his colleague Walter Philip. Though this was a great accomplishment for Michael Lacey, he, of course, could not stop there, as he always can see one more mathematical problem he can solve. Furthermore, he went on to receive the National Science Foundation postdoctoral fellowship while he was working at the Indiana University from the years of 1989 to 1996. This fellowship was received right before he received his Salem prize while working on the Hilbert transform.

In 1996 Michael Lacey decided to make his most recent career move to work at the Georgia Institute of Technology. There he has been able to continue his work, and become a true expert in pure mathematics, which is his passion. His vast knowledge of probability and harmonic analysis led him to be so much more than just Georgia Tech faculty. Michael also spent his time as the director of training grants while he is also working as an advisor for undergraduates who are ready to move on to the graduate program. Michael spends a lot of his time mentoring, which is not in vain as most of his Ph.D. student have received both academic and industry jobs that have to help them grow and succeed.

Prison Communication

Securus Technologies Dominating the Prison Technologies Sector

Securus Technologies is a corrections firm that is dedicated to reviving and modernizing the corrections space. Since 1986, when Securus Technologies was established with the merger of two of the premier telecom companies, the company has diversified in the correctional sector vastly. It is one of the most well-established and deep-rooted corrections firms in the industry, and it continues to contribute heavily to the corrections and investigative technology sector.

Some of the technologies developed by Securus Technologies has created waves in the industry and is in use by thousands of the correctional facilities and law enforcement agencies. Rick Smith, CEO of Securus Technologies, says that security and prevention of crime are at the core of the Securus’s business. The company thrives on making correctional facilities safer and giving the inmates as well as the officers the technologies they need to stay safe and perform better.

The wireless containment system developed by Securus Technologies has helped the correctional agencies to ensure that the contraband phones are rendered completely useless and ineffective in making any communication from inside the prison. With the activation of the wireless containment system, the contraband phones would not be able to make any calls or receive any calls. Securus Technologies has collaborated with the commercial networks in shaping the wireless containment system possible.

The commercial networks agreed not to make or receive calls where the wireless containment solution would be activated. Securus Technologies has researched for many months to make wireless containment system as useful as it is. In the first phase of testing that took place in the eight facilities where Securus Technologies serves, the wireless containment system managed to stop more than 1.7 million communication attempts.

Securus Technologies is confident that the results would be the same in the other correctional facilities as well where the wireless containment system would be installed. Securus Technologies has ensured that this technology is full proof and doesn’t let any unaccounted for communication attempt pass through unnoticed. Also, Securus Technologies has assured that it takes the expertise of the ex-corrections officers into account.

Robert Johnson is one of the ex-corrections officers who is working with Securus Technologies as a consultant. He has also helped in making wireless containment system possible. As a correctional officer, Robert Johnson’s primary responsibility was to track, follow, and catch the contraband packages inside the prison. He used to be an expert with that, and it is what led to him becoming the target of many criminals as well. The achievements of Robert Johnson as a corrections officer led him to be shot six times in his home in the presence of his family. Since then, Robert Johnson has vowed to ensure that the contraband phones do not make it inside the prison.

Businessman

Daniel Taub Warned the World about Iran’s Nuclear Development Plan

Daniel Taub is a former Israeli ambassador to the United Kingdom. He served this post from 2011 – 2015. Currently, Mr. Taub is an international lawyer.

He also writes reports about the Middle East for various newspapers. Back in 2012, the Iranian government made some dangerous and very bold statements against the Israeli people. The nation had threatened to wipe Israel from the face of the Earth.

The Iranian government not only made this terrible prediction they were trying to back it up with their nuclear development plan. In other words, one of the reasons for this country to have nuclear weapons, was to eliminate Israel from the Middle East. Learn more about Daniel Taub: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/iran-will-still-make-a-nuclear-bomb-israel-s-ambassador-to-the-uk-daniel-taub-argues-the-geneva-deal-8965373.html and https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2012/may/08/boycott-israelis-tuc-bigotry

The Israeli people do not take threats lightly. For them it is a matter of life and death when an Islamic country says that they want to wipe them out of existence.

The Israeli people and their allies began to take action against Iran for their remarks. More importantly, they had taken the necessary steps to show Iran that they better think twice about attacking the small Israeli country. These happened during Daniel Taub’s time as ambassador.

Starting in 2012, many nations who were allies with Israel imposed sanctions against Iran and their nuclear development plan.

However, Daniel Taub did not believe that the sanctions would deter the Iranians from continuing their program. He was right. The Iranians continue to develop their nuclear program to this very day.

The Iranians nuclear development program began many years ago in the 1950s. It was put into motion by the United States. It was a part of the ATOMS of Peace Program that was popular in those days. Read more: Daniel Taub | Wikipedia and Daniel Taub | LinkedIn

The program remained in place for nearly three decades without a problem. However, the Iranian revolution took place in 1979.

After the last Shah of Iran was removed from power, the international community cut off the Iranian nuclear program. By the 1990s the Russians had helped Iran to revive their nuclear agenda.

Daniel Taub wanted the world to know that Iran has no intention of stopping their nuclear arms development. He realized that the Iranians have too many reasons for not stopping this program.

While he is no longer an Israeli ambassador, he still has a firm grasp about what is going on with this issue and how it impacts the Middle East. Hopefully, a workable resolution will be reached to resolve this issue.

Talent Management

Justin Brown’s Brown Modeling Agency

Justin Brown was born in Reno, Nevada and raised in Susanville, California. Immediately after his 18th birthday, he moved to Southern California to get a college education. He paid for this by modeling. During those years he was making $100 per hour modeling what was then known as rocker jeans (now called skinny jeans) while earning his degree in Business Management. Both his education and modeling experience would serve him well in his future career. It was during these college years that he grew a deep interest in the management side of the modeling business. After graduation, he remained in the modeling business.

According to Marketwired, after graduation, he moved to New York where he learned more about the industry. He eventually landed on Development and Placement as his place in the modeling world. In 2005 he moved to Austin, Texas where he founded a modeling development business. In 2008, he started JB Models and Talent. In 2010 the company was transformed into Wilhelmina Brown. Here he used his learning both in the educational setting and his modeling experience to train other models and to help them find positions in modeling firms. At the same time, he was making WB a big name in the national modeling industry. He eventually founded the modeling firm, Wilhelmina Austin.

But he was frustrated with the limited scope of most of the Austin modeling industry. During those early years of the firm, he had a difficult time having the models of Austin see beyond just modeling in Austin. Most of them just wanted to model locally. Under Brown’s leadership, WA changed this limited scope. The firm was soon successfully placing 20 to 30 percent of their models in some of the best companies in the world. In 2015 WA purchased and absorbed Heyman Talent South, another Austin-based talent agency whose concentration is finding and nurturing acting talent. Afterward, the company renamed itself to The Brown Agency.

TBA has attained more success than Justin originally imagined. It is today the only full-service modeling agency in Austin, and one of the most respected in the entire state. TBA remains headquartered with offices in Dallas and Los Angeles. And Justin Brown continues to lead as its CEO and president. He is assisted by Michael Bonnee, the founder of Talent-South, who serves as the head of TBA’s theatrical division. The Texas professional industry is supervised and regulated by the Texas Workforce Commission.
